Currently, the CAC Box Office, Design Store and exhibit galleries are open Thursday-Monday from 10am–5pm. Stay tuned for more updates.

BeCOVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. Senior citizens and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. As in-person activities and Center admissions resume, those who visit the Center and attend CAC tours voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Please follow protection measures as outlined by public health officials for the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago. Adjustments temporarily necessary are detailed below for offerings while they are available.

If you feel ill or suspect you may be experiencing symptoms of a COVID-19 infection, please do not enter the Center or attend any CAC tours. We will be happy to refund your reservation or welcome you to join us again at a later date.

We realize present circumstances bring with them a degree of uncertainty. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have. Please contact us via email at or call the CAC Box Office at 312.922.8687.

Effective Friday, June 11, in accordance with CDC, State, and City guidelines moving Chicago fully into Phase 5 of the City Recovery Plan masks will no longer be required for fully vaccinated individuals. Masks are still encouraged for those who aren’t fully vaccinated.

Safety measures like enhanced cleaning and social distancing will continue to be practiced. We will not require proof of vaccination but ask for guests’ responsible and respectful cooperation with this revised policy.

The CAC, including the Box Office, Design Store, and exhibit galleries are open Thursday-Monday from 10am–5pm. Guests can also explore our new exhibit—Hyper Green High-Rises: Towards a Zero-Energy Skyscraper—in the John and Kathleen Buck Atrium.

Chicago Architecture Foundation Center River Cruises aboard Chicago’s First Lady have resumed for the 2021 season. Tickets are now on sale.  Learn more about enhanced safety policies for the River Cruise.

Currently, all walking tours—including custom and private bookings—are limited to small groups only, with face coverings and advance reservations required. View our current offerings.

For the safety of our guests and unless otherwise noted, all walking tours are limited to a maximum of six attendees plus one docent, to allow for appropriate social distancing of at least six feet between individuals who have not isolated together. It is a requirement that both the docent and all tour attendees wear face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times.

Tickets for all CAC walking tours must be purchased in advance through the CAC website or by phone to the CAC Box Office. Unfortunately, walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated at this time.

The CAC requests that all walking tour attendees bring their own hand sanitizer to further adhere to the guidance of public health officials regarding frequent hand sanitizing and thorough hand washing.

By confirming your reservation for any CAC walking tour, you acknowledge and accept the CAC’s COVID-19 safety policies.
